FAMOUS REGIONS ARE AS FAMOUS AS CHAMPAGNE - even if many who know them may never have enjoyed their great wines. Champagne is the great combination of the cool northern, continental climate, the thick chalk soil, the three grape varieties Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, and the great craftsmanship of the champagne producers. A good champagne needs at least three years from harvest to fermentation, second fermentation in the bottle and maturation in the chalk cellars of Reims before it can delight champagne lovers all over the world.
